Charity for NovemberCruse Bereavement CareCruse Bereavement Care is a nationwide organisation. There are currently 134 branches in the UK. Over 5,000 volunteers provide bereavement support and counselling to upwards of 18,000 people annually. Cruse is staffed entirely by volunteers.Your local Branch is West Kent Cruse, at 3, St. Mary's Road, Tonbridge, Kent TN9 2LD. Telephone number 01732 353575. All Cruse voluntary counsellors undergo the Cruse training course, which is a rigorous course including comprehensive coverage of the theories of bereavement and loss, as well as extensive practice in the application and use of listening skills. Potential Cruse clients are all assessed prior to being allocated a counsellor. Most Cruse clients are seen in their homes. In exceptional circumstances they are seen in neutral surroundings. The sessions last an hour. They are usually weekly. Sessions continue for as long as the client is finding them to be helpful (but typically not longer than a year). All Cruse counsellors receive regular supervision on their work, as well as continuing professional development workshops 2-3 times a year. Cruse runs regular training courses to recruit and train new voluntary Counsellors. Please give generously to support the work of Cruse Bereavement Care. Thank you. Visit the Cruse Web Site. ![]() |
